Organic & Ethical HEADING_TITLE
We are proud to be the first range of Rooibos skincare products anywhere in the world to be certified as organic by The Soil Association. The Soil Association is the UK's leading campaigning and certification organisation for organic farming and internationally recognised as maintaining some of the highest organic standards known.

Afriteaque is the only skincare brand that contains Fair Trade Labelling Organization (FLO) Rooibos. Unlike laboratory manufactured Rooibos, Afriteaque's Rooibos is 100% natural and grown in the fair trade, organic farming community of Wupperthal, South Africa. Here farmers hand cut, bundle and sun-dry their Rooibos, and are paid a fairer price for doing so.

Wupperthal is one of only two small-scale Rooibos producers in the world. Situated on the slopes of the stunning Cedarberg Mountains, these small farmers produce Rooibos of the highest quality, but historically have had to complete with large scale estates that benefitted from past government policies.

Over 98% of South African Rooibos comes from large scale estates, which due to apartheid had the pick of the land, and for this reason, the highest production of Rooibos. For many years, these farmers received generous government support and were able to exploit the original descendents of the land who were forced to work as poorly paid labourers.

If the small farm of Wupperthal is to survive and prosper today, they need to earn enough money to capitalise their farms and buy more land. As a buyer of Afriteaque you can support them in achieving this.

Currently, the farmers of Wupperthal participate in a program that has moved from wild harvesting to the sustainable cultivation of fair trade, organic Rooibos suitable for export to the world market.

To assist in this sustainable development, Afriteaque sources only fair trade, organic Rooibos from Wupperthal. In addition, for each Afriteaque product sold in the UK, one Rooibos seedling will be planted in Wupperthal, South Africa.
